Take Care Of Your Health Or Miss It When It Is Gone
The most significant factor in this life is our health and well being and we should do all that we can to maintain the right balance. Surely other things are crucial also, we need an ample amount of money to survive in society, we require love and a roof over our head in order to continue a healthy level of life, but in this writer's mind, nothing is as important than our health and well being. I'll not make such statements without a bit more insight.
While my thoughts are my own, they do have some substance and are not idle chatter. I have (or had) a good friend whose focal point in his journey the acquiring of money, this did not cause him to be a negative person, quite the reverse is true, more than once he came to me in times of need with a helping hand, today he is no longer with us, he lost his health and then his life. This of course is a rare example and by no means do I want to paint this article with darkness, rather insights for life.
This is not a debating ground for religious themes, yet I believe fervently that the spirit continues and that life is amerely preparation for what follows; but I want to assure you I have full intentions to enjoy my life to the fullest, taking pleasure in every moment, breathing in the air, feeling the excitement of the wind in my face and the beauty of a colorful twilight. When my journey on planet earth if done, I'll walk unafraid through the veil, but until that day, I will continue to walk courageously across this earth and this can only be done with good health.
One skeptic pondered! 'Why is health more important than wealth?'
In my humble opinion, when we have our health we can go all-out, we can earn a living, we can generate resumes, go on career interviews, pursue our dreams, attempt new projects, live up to and exceed our potential, but only when we have the vigor and well being to do so. As I sit now writing this, I'm overlooking the water, it is peaceful and serene and my mind is free to ramble and soar, but my mind is fueled by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, staying active and a optimistic take on life; yet again, all this happens because of excellent health.
Each night as I start to close my eyes, I think positive thoughts, I perform deep breathing, I connect with God (yes I believe He exists), and express gratitude for my strength, but I am careful to not take it for granted, I work to maintain fitness. Each day (and I do not get up early, tending to write late into the night) I'll do a series of stretching exercises and lite aerobics to increase my heart rate. I'm lucky, I have good genes, my dear mother lived to be 94 and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these routines from them and I do not take these practices, nor my well being for granted.
I imagine I'm somewhat on a soapbox, having lost two close friends; two friends I thought the world of, but two friends who are now gone from this plane of existence. I do not mourn for them; feeling they now fly free, but I miss them and wish they were here with me.
If there is any moral to this, it is simply to be thankful for the life that is given you and to treasure it. While I can give you no specific clue as to what will transpire when we leave this life, I can offer this recommendation.
Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
