Doomsday - The Superman Villain behind the Death of Superman

by Jessica P

Do you want to know what there is about Doomsday? Your chance is finally here. Doomsday made his first appearance on Superman, The Man Of Steel, in 1992. He was created by an alien scientist who wished to create the perfect life form. Of all the Superman villains, Doomsday gained the most pity.

He was placed out as an infant, to die by the vicious atmosphere of Krypton in it's most violent time. He then died as a baby, and was harvested again with whatever was left, to only die again.

This process happened thousands of thousands of times so that this being would be a better, stronger life each time until he reached perfection. Doomsday would forever carry the memory of these deaths and eventually force him to detest all living things.

For this most menacing of Superman villains, defeating the entire Justice League was achieved easily, and this caught Superman's attention. In fact, he battled the team with one hand tied behind his back, literally.

Maxima was the only one of the bunch who could have any chance of defending herself against Doomsday. Once Superman and Doomsday meet, they are ready to battle. Much unlike other Superman villains, Doomsday was more than a match for Superman, and in one battle, they both fought hard and long, with Superman taking serious damage and losing strength quickly. Neither, however, would give up.

At the end of possibly the greatest comic book battle of all time, each of the fighters simultaneously struck the other with a fatal blow. Thus, the end of Superman, and the legacy lives on.

Doomsday was taken by a Cyborg, and was sent to a faraway place where readers assumed he would stay, however, this was not the case. It was just one more 'death' that this villain would overcome.
